My name is Saul lvan Flores-Garcia but most in the community know me by lvan. I have been on the board for a year now!

I've been at Kelloggsville since second grade, so Kelloggsville has been a huge part of my life, and I think what's been the most impactful would be the mentorship I've had from teachers over the years at Kelloggsville.

I was actually inspired by my former principal, now superintendent, after he talked to my wife and me about this opportunity, and it was a no-brainer. We were actually wanting to get more involved since we have two of our kids in the district, and this was the perfect opportunity. And it also helps to have so many alumni as staff for Kelloggsville that we went to school with.

In my short time on the board, one of my proudest moments was actually getting sworn in as a board member. I was really nervous about it, but everyone at the meeting made it a great experience. And another moment I'm proud of would be being able to give out diplomas to the graduates of 2025. It was such a memorable experience, and I hope to be able to do the same honor for my kids when they graduate.

Top priorities over the next 3-5 years are academic growth, equitable access to our diverse student body, and the safety and well-being of all students and staff. And to do that, I believe that adding parent involvement is a big priority for the success of our students.

It's an absolute honor to be a part of this amazing community. I'm really looking forward to serving the kids and community in this district.

I am Crystal Reidzans. I have served as a Kelloggsville School Board Member for over 16 years. Two of my children are graduates of Kelloggsville Public Schools. I was inspired to run for the Kelloggsville School Board because I wanted to positively impact the lives of children. The moments that I appreciate the most about being a board member is when I witness students who have worked diligently on their education be rewarded at graduation.

I see the following as what needs to be included in the District's top priorities over the next three to five years:

  • The District should always work to ensure that we are strategically implementing proven curriculum and methods of instruction that maximize student learning, so that students get the instruction and opportunities that they need to be able to compete and to be productive members of society.
  • The District should always work to ensure that we are prioritizing student and staff safety, so that there is the appropriate environment that is necessary to teach, work, and learn properly.
  • The District should always work to ensure that we are strategically spending the funds that we have to ensure that we have the appropriate amount of highly qualified teachers and staff that is necessary to ensure that students are learning properly.
  • The community members can support these goals in a variety of ways. One way parents can help is by partnering with the teachers and ensuring that they give their children the support that they need at home to do well at school. In addition, community members can help by providing mentorship to help children build social/emotional skills that will help them stay safe.
  • Lastly, community members who are talented in educating and managing students can join the Kelloggsville team.

Thank you for the opportunity, privilege, and honor of serving with the Kelloggsville School District.

Hello, my name is Jane Ward and I have been a Kelloggsville Board member since being appointed in August, 1994.

There is real connection and closeness in the Kelloggsville community. I am heartened by the willingness of our staff to be steadfast, work hard and meet the challenges that come with educating students. When I was an active teacher in another area district, I would also find inspiration from the students’ work that I saw on the walls of the elementary classes in Kelloggsville. I feel honored to have been chosen by voters to represent them on the Kelloggsville Schools board and be able to continue supporting the education of our newest generation.

There was a vacancy on the Board in the summer of 1994. One of my neighbors, Fred VanDerPuy, who was a Kelloggsville Board member at that time, came to encourage me to apply for the position. I did and was selected. I was a teacher by training, experience and interest. I thought it would be a good way to support my local community.

I am very proud that the Kelloggsville community has been so supportive of their schools over the years. I remember the fire at the Northwest Elementary School building (now the Kelloggsville Early Childhood Learning Center) that damaged two classrooms the Friday before Labor Day weekend in 1998. Parents, students, staff and community members gave up their time on the holiday weekend to sort through the smoke damaged contents of those rooms and clean up so that school could resume right after the holiday.  This community support is also reflected in the building of the middle school, the renovation of the high school and constructing Central Elementary. The STEM addition to the High School is a marvel. We are now able to give outstanding and cutting edge opportunities to our students.

The political nature of school finance means that there will be many changes that require close attention and good communication. Being honest with our community will provide a foundation for community support for the difficult decisions the board will need to make.

At its core, people and relationships are key to good education. We need to maintain support for our staff so they can continually improve and hold high expectations for our students. Support from the community and parents will be very important. Their participation, encouragement and attention to student needs are most valuable.

Thank you to the Kelloggsville community for their continual support—for athletic teams, the band and choir programs, curriculum changes, millage votes, community nights and celebrations, e-sports teams, KDL Library branch at the High School, robotics and STEM programs, and many more after school activities. We have a district to be proud of. You are a part of Kelloggsville’s ongoing story. Let’s keep giving it our best.

Hello, my name is Marie Groters. This is my 12th year serving on the Kelloggsville School Board. My three children all graduated from Kelloggsville. I have been involved with the Kelloggsville band program for over 20 years, including being the Band Booster president for several of those years.

I decided to run for the school board because I care deeply about our students and the role our schools play in the community as a whole. I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made at the board level affect classrooms, teachers, and families, and I wanted to be part of those decisions—not just react to them.

I’m especially motivated by making sure our students have access to a high-quality education, that teachers feel supported, and that families’ voices are heard. Serving on the school board felt like the most direct way to give back, bring people together, and help shape a school system that prepares students not just academically, but for life beyond the classroom.

I am proud that we offer our students a variety of ways to enhance their learning, whether it is through field trips, hands-on learning experiences, close-up program, travel club, Junior Achievement or other opportunities. I appreciate it when students attend a board meeting to share their experiences and what they have learned from these opportunities. It lets us know how the choices we make as a board impact and enhance the students’ learning.

Over the next 3–5 years, I see the district’s top priorities as strengthening academic outcomes, supporting the well-being of students and staff, and ensuring the district is financially stable and responsive to a changing community.

The community can support these goals by staying engaged, participating in school and board meetings, partnering with schools, supporting bonds when needed, and maintaining open, respectful communication. When families, staff, and community members work together, we create stronger schools and better outcomes for students.

I am honored to serve this community and grateful for the tireless dedication of our staff and the unwavering support of our families as we work together to serve our students. Together, we are committed to fostering a safe, innovative environment where everyone can thrive. Thank you for your partnership.

My name is Gladys Townsend, and I have been serving as a Kelloggsville School Board Member since 2020. My journey from retirement from Kelloggsville Public Schools in 2002 to the Kelloggsville School Board has significantly contributed to my personal growth and community involvement, providing me with firsthand knowledge of how a school district operates.

I retired from Kelloggsville Public Schools in 2020, having held various roles at Kelloggsville Middle School. My commitment to our community and schools has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority.

My family's journey with Kelloggsville began in 1998. Both of my sons graduated from Kelloggsville Public Schools, one in 2002 and the other in 2004. I also celebrated the graduations of my two grandsons in 2009 and 2010, a granddaughter in 2023, my great-niece's graduation from 54th Street Academy in 2024, and another grandson who will be part of the 2026 graduating class.

I was inspired to run for the Kelloggsville School Board to learn about decision-making processes and to ensure that students have the tools they need for success. I am passionate about encouraging parental involvement and advocating for Kelloggsville Public Schools.

During my time on the board, I am particularly proud of significant achievements such as the ribbon-cutting of our new STEM building and programs, the introduction of additional AP classes, the opening of Central KV Elementary, and the development of the football, baseball, and softball fields. I am also proud of the achievements of the KV Girls Wrestling Team, and the successful passing of our millages.

Looking ahead, I see the district's top priorities over the next 3–5 years as fostering more parental involvement and improving testing scores, especially among minority students. Community support is crucial, and continuing to engage and attract new businesses will be vital.

To the families, students, and staff of Kelloggsville, I want to express my gratitude for allowing me the opportunity to represent you. It is both a privilege and an honor to serve, and I hope you find me approachable for any concerns. If I don't have the answers, rest assured that I will work diligently to resolve any issues to your satisfaction.
